Get in TouchUnlocking Literacy was founded by Stephanie Vassallo, an AMBDA-certified Dyslexia Specialist and Child & Adolescent Psychology Practitioner. She is an Executive Council Member and Vice PRO of the Malta Dyslexia Association, and has over a decade of experience supporting children with literacy difficulties.
Ms Steffi is passionate about making reading and writing accessible to every learner through evidence-based, structured, multi-sensory approaches grounded in the Science of Reading. She specialises in working with students with dyslexia and other specific learning differences, using play-based intervention in a nurturing environment.
She leads a dedicated team of trained literacy educators and specialists who share a commitment to delivering high-quality 1:1 support, helping each child build confidence and reach their full potential.
Personalised 1:1 literacy intervention sessions for children who struggle with reading, spelling, and writing. Our structured, systematic, and explicit approach is based on the Orton-Gillingham methodology and the Science of Reading. Lessons are multisensory and play-based, incorporating games, crafts, and engaging activities tailored to each child's specific learning profile.
Comprehensive assessments that help identify the root causes of literacy difficulties, including dyslexia and other specific learning differences. Each assessment includes a detailed written report outlining your child's strengths, challenges, and clear, practical recommendations to support their progress at home and in school.
We work directly with schools to support students with literacy needs by providing consultation, observation, and guidance. Our team collaborates with school staff to suggest appropriate strategies, accommodations, and targeted interventions, ensuring that each student's needs are met within their learning environment.

Beyond our own practice, we are proud to contribute to the broader literacy and dyslexia community in Malta — through voluntary work, research, and collaboration with leading organisations.
Stephanie volunteered as part of the Malta Dyslexia Association's SIS09-2025 project, contributing to the launch of a landmark report on improving dyslexia provision across Early, Junior, and Secondary years in Malta.
Co-authored with a group of dyslexia specialists in Malta, this report outlines evidence-based recommendations for improved literacy provision across all school years. Published as part of the MDA's SIS09-2025 initiative.
